Temperature Scare

November19

Last night was pretty rough for Layla. Shortly after the chemo was hung her blood pressure dropped to 80/40. That alone is not cause for alarm. What was more alarming was her temperature – 93.1. Uhhh, what?? I put the thermostat on 78, layered clothes on her and covered her with 4 heavy blankets. She felt cold and clammy to the touch and was pale, but her heart rate and oxygen levels were normal.

The Dr’s couldn’t explain what was going on, which was not in the least bit reassuring. They checked her temperature every 15 minutes and finally after 6 hours, it went up to 97.5.

It has been normal all day. Her lab work was normal this morning. Which I’m so thankful for, but I’m also scared because I don’t know why it dipped in the first place, and if it will do it again.

They have sent off blood cultures to test for bacteria, a nasal wash to check for a virus and a stool sample to see if there’s any bacteria in her bowels.

So far this has been an interesting stay and it hasn’t even been 24 hours! I hope things calm down soon so we can get some rest!

Layla, Shanna, Ryan and all the family are in my prayers. I will be going to Church today and lighting a candle for Layla, I will will make sure that a candle stays lit for her while she goes through this, over the next 6 weeks. i will pass this on to family and friends, to strangers on Facebook, so that God see this light and will radiate that light and shine on Little Layla during this delicate time.
I am blessed to have met Layla, you Shanna and Ryan. You will forever be in my heart.
    God Bless!
