Her 2nd birthday and Thanksgiving Day. She had just finished 5 days of extremely intense chemo. She was violently ill and could hardly keep her eyes open. She still made a good attempt to open her presents though!

It’s hard for me to post these because she looks so miserable. Sadly, this was at the very beginning of the mucositis. Day 2 to be exact. By day 8 she couldn’t even move and her mouth looked so awful. These were also taken on her birthday. It’s just not fair to spend your 2nd birthday like this.

Colossians 3:14-17 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Layla is so beautiful. I am sitting here crying my eyes out, but today it is for God’s miracles. The fact that she is so unpredictable in this proves that God’s hand is everything. He is everywhere. Layla we don’t even know you and we just love you. I hope you guys can go home for Christmas and have a wonderful holiday. Every time Layla pops into my head I pray for her to get well and that this cancer never reoccurs.

    Love,

Layla is so beautiful and she reminds me so much of my son with those big blue eyes. I know you don’t know me but my son was just diagnoised with Kidney Cancer Wilms tumor stage 3 on November 15. He is 15 months old. I have not had a chance to read all of the post, but I read your story and cried because I felt like you are living my life. My son had the exact same symptoms except for the swollen eye. He also had very high blood pressure and we almost lost him to a stroke. I would love to talk in more detail and be of any support that I can. I know I am just at the beginning of my sons treatment, but I find that the more support you have the better. Somedays I don’t know how I wake up but I just take one look at my son and know I have to be there for him. Please visit our website when you get a chance and please email me when you have time. A good friend of mine whose daughter goes to the same daycare my son went to just told me about Layla. I will be praying for her. I live in California.

    God Bless!

    Praying hard in Seattle!
Psalms 46:1-5 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

Matthew 1:20-23 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

I love Layla. Our daughters are just days apart, my youngest just turned 2 on Nov 24th. Not only being a mom, but having a child Layla Grace’s same age is making your sistuation so much more real and close to my heart. I obviously can’t say I understand what you and your family are going through but our family will be praying for Layla consistantly. Not only Layla but the rest of your family as well. My favorite story in the Bible is the story of Sarah. The Lord comes and tells Abraham that when He returns to visit next year she will be pregnant. Sarah is WAY too old to have children but has been praying for years for a child. So when the Lord makes this promise and she overheard she laughed… can you imagine. Laughed. Anyway, the Lord turned to her and confronted her. She said “Oh, I didn’t laugh..” and the Lord responded. “Is there anything to hard for the Lord?” Not as a question but a STATEMENT OF FACT! The Ramirez Family will be standing and believing with you for Layla and a peace to overcome your household through all of this.

There is no “magic herb” that will meet your criterion. However, there definitely ARE supplements and related therapies that will HELP you move in the direction of healing. Personally, as a Christian Chiropractor, I do not try to heal anyone – but rather, help “create an environment that is conducive to healing”. I applaud your efforts to do the same and pray that God’s wisdom allows to “see with eyes that see and hear with ears that hear”.

My prayers are with you and your family. It’s hard to find the words that haven’t already been expressed in the previous posts to say how deeply I care and hope for a miracle! I will pray, pray, pray that there is hope for Baby Layla! I wish, wish, wish there was a cure. Can’t stop the tears…choking them back. I am a fairly new mommy of a 19 month old girl and I just cannot even imagine life without my baby. (My baby’s middle name is Grace too.) All the care and love you put into your child…only to have it taken, stolen away from you. I hope you all find the comfort each day to do what you can to make it through for your pretty little girl. May God comfort and help you and your family forever. I am sure it is amazing to you to know that Layla is loved for by many and prayed for by many more. Find the strength and share the love- I hope a miracle comes your way!
    Much love,
    Kim

Even in extreme pain your daughter exudes such grace (no pun inteneded) her middle name is very fitting. She is beautiful and has the most angelic blue eyes I have ever seen. She looks like such a wise 2 year old. Your family is in my prayers and may God grant you the strength to continue.

My heart breaks for you. I just read of Layla’s story today, as my sleeping baby girl only a month older than Layla lay next to me. Wow, this really puts things into perspective. I will not complain about tantrums, messes or anything else a 2 year old can get into. Your family is amazing, and the spirit of God truly does shine through you. What a fighter you have, she is a blessing, not only to you but to the world. I will keep Layla and your family in my prayers…….God bless you.

To Layla’s Family: I am 13 years old and have just heard of your heart-breaking story. I just wanted to say I am deeply sorry that you have to go through this, I will continue to pray and support your gorgeous little girl. Layla has touched so many of us and put life into perspective. If the outcome of this is not a good one please know that Layla will be one of the brightest stars shining down from heaven and that she will be with you no matter what.
And to sweet, angelic Layla: Your family has been more than blessed to have shared 4 wonderful years with you. Be at peace and know that no matter what happens, you’ll be okay. If God needs an angel and he picks you don’t worry. You’ve shined on every person you met and I’m sure you’ll shine just as bright from heaven. God bless you and know that you are always, always in my prayers and everyone elses thats heard of you or met you.

hi from wales,uk.your story has had a very hard impact on me for lots of reasons firstly i have a friend with a 5 year old daughter who is just recovering from a brain tumor.grade 1 luckily, but to know someone personally going through such a terrible time has truly impacted hard on her family but also close friends.also im a mother of a 2 year old myself and cannot even begin to imagine what a horrific time your family must be going through.i just pray that your angel doesnt suffer and is at peace soon.no mother ever thinks she will see her children pass and i have cried many tears for your daughter whilst holding my son ,and praying for you all. layla is a little angel and will soon be smiling down on you from heaven, where one day you will all be together again xxxxxxxxxxxx

I have just read about Layla today and came across this post. Even through all of the things she had been through at the time of these pictures she is still the most beautiful little girl I have ever seen. I pray for you and your family, I wish more than anything I have ever wished for that a miracle could still happen but more than anything that God is with her and your entire family no matter what the day brings and that you all feel his presence and peace. Your story has showed me that I shouldnt be annoyed by the constant noise, questions, presence, and sometimes interruptions a child can be but I will thank God every day for these blessings from now on. I thank you for sharing Layla’s (and your family) story. She has accomplished so many wonderful things in her time here.

Such a sad story. Bad things should never have to happen to young children. She is so beautiful and innocent. I can only imagine the tears that you shed and shared as a family. I look at my daughter who is only 4 months and I shed tears for her, Layla and your family just thinking about your situation. May God be with Layla and your family. My thoughts are on Layla.
