Our Hero: Collin Henry

Collin Henry is a perfect five year old boy. He loves die cast cars, playing baseball with his daddy, and is great at math. In May 2008, Collin was a sweet toddler that had just celebrated his second birthday. He had been very lethargic for about a month and was covered in bruises. His mom, Kathleen, tried repeatedly to have him seen by the doctors, but the advice nurses insisted that he was “just anemic.” No one would have guessed that Collin was about to begin a journey where he would prove that real superheroes do not wear capes. Our Hero: Victoria Hernandez

July 8, 2010, we took Victoria to her 6-month checkup, and her pediatrician told us she was “perfect” just like we had heard at every other checkup since she was born. Eight days later, her left eye became swollen, and our “happy” baby was becoming unusually cranky. I took her to the pediatrician the following day and was told that she had pink eye. Read More…

Our Hero: Gabrial Michael Latham

Gabrial Michael Latham was born a healthy happy baby at 1:04 pm on July 6th, 2006. He weighed exactly seven pounds. During the first 17 months of his life, everything was pretty much normal. I took him to the doctor everyday for two weeks and became very frustrated with hearing, “He’s just a sickly child.”
